1) Supersize: Don’t just rely on your laptop screen to demonstrate your latest product or service. Try to rent (or buy, if you do trade shows often) a good-quality projector that you can hook up to your laptop, and project your presentation on to a blank wall in your booth. The moving pictures are sure to draw a crowd, and as many convention experts will tell you, drawing a crowd is a fantastic opportunity for you and your company.
2) Motion Good, Static Bad: If you do manage to get a hold of a projector, don’t waste it by displaying a static image such as a PowerPoint presentation, or the front page of your company website. Ask someone from your tech department to create a quick animated film about your company that you can keep playing on loop while the projector runs. It doesn’t have to be too complicated – just catchy enough to garner attention. And yes, these films can be made very inexpensively, using a few programs that even be downloaded for free.
3) Work Offline: More often than not, the wireless internet connection in the convention center is prone to failure – it simply can’t be helped with a large number of computers accessing the network at the same time. If you need your booth participants and prospective clients to view something or sign up for in your official website, find a way to accomplish this while being completely disconnected to the network. This will work out for you in the long run, if in case you get total wi-fi failure in the middle of the convention,
4) Interact with Other Devices: Make the exhibit a little more fun for the event participants by engaging them via their mobile devices. Display QR codes at random intervals on your demo screen that guest can scan with their phones to win prizes. Project tweets that feature your product hash tag on a wall of your booth – event participants who want to see their Twitter accounts up in lights are sure to latch on to that fun feature. Create and give away a fun iPhone app featuring your products, for free – it can be a game or a useful service such as local weather reports or stock quotes.
